Duane Smith, illustrator | designer | educator, recieved his Bachelors of Fine Arts
from Pratt Institute and a Master’s in Illustration at F.I.T. (The Fashion Institute
of Technology) both in New York City. Currently, Duane is a resident of Brooklyn,
New York. Born and raised in Albany, New York, his focus has always been art driven. Talents include graphic design for print, design for the World Wide Web and a passion for illustration. As an illustrator Duane has illustrated a number of works for a variety of markets. Beginning with three published children’s books; Mama’s Window by Lynn Rubright, Night Journey to Vicksburg by Susan Rowan Masters and Seven Miles
to Freedom: Robert Smalls Story

film development projects such as conceptual illustrations, storyboards
and film posters, murals and gallery works.

Duane Smith has also been an art instructor for a number of afterschool programs
in New York City. Beginning as an instructor in the 2001 Summer Design Program
with Pratt Institute he continues a curriculum that strives to inspire children to
think conceptually as well as independently.
